The Intention Behind Gingerbēet
Jenny "KôHënnă" Lawrence, MBA
Founder, CEO | Executive Chef
The Legacy
Born and raised in Louisiana, my earliest understanding of food as culture was shaped around the table, where Afro-Indigenous and Creole culinary traditions, storytelling, and community came together through food. Raised in a family of entrepreneurs, including my grandmother—a beloved Creole restaurateur—I learned that a thoughtfully prepared meal could nourish not only the body, but also culture, connection, and belonging.
The Craft
Although I built a career spanning nearly two decades in business and financial services, I found myself continually drawn back to the traditions that first shaped my perspective on food. That journey led me to deepen my studies in herbalism, ancestral healing, and botanical wellness, earning an Honorary Doctorate in Traditional Medicine & Ancestral Healing while expanding my understanding of food as ritual, restoration, and reverence.
The Philosophy
Today, Gingerbēet is a botanical culinary company where plant-based cuisine, Elevated Elixirs, and intentional gatherings come together through the philosophy of Botanical Cuisine. Every offering is thoughtfully designed to celebrate seasonal ingredients, ancestral traditions, and meaningful connection.
The Purpose
From intimate dinners and luxury weddings to corporate gatherings, wellness activations, and private meal concierge, every Gingerbēet offering is thoughtfully curated to nourish, connect, and create moments that linger long after the final course.
From Root to Ritual.
